Barwon River through Geelong closed to recreation boating
Boating facilities in the Barwon River through Geelong precinct are closed to all recreational use and the river is closed to all on-water recreational activities. Emergency or commercial use is permitted. The closure is consistent with Marine Safety Victoria’s request that Victorians stop all forms of recreational boating.
Victoria is under Stage 3 restrictions to combat the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The Premer Daniel Andrews has directed that all Victorians must stay home except to shop for food and essential supplies, medical, care or compassionate needs, exercise in compliance with the public gathering requirements, or work and study if this cannot be done remotely.
People found breaching Stage 3 restrictions face on-the-spot fines of $1,652 for individuals and $9,913 for businesses. Larger fines can also be issued through the courts.
