150th Anniversary Dinner

On the 25th of June 2022, Barwon Rowing Club was finally able to gather together and celebrate, not the 150th anniversary of the club that we had planned more than two years ago, but 152 years of rowing together.

All those who were present at the Captains Room at GMHBA Stadium spoke of a successful and enjoyable night with great food and many more great memories and friendships revived, We were missing some of our oldest and most successful members due to last minute illness, but welcomed rowers from Corio Bay Rowing Club, Bell Park High School and the “dancing eight” reunion.

Thanks go to our Secretary, Geoff Boucher, who filled in at the last minute as an excellent Master of Ceremonies, due to our President Stewart Cowey being unable to attend, and to the inspiring keynote speech by Australia’s leading rowing historian Andrew Guerin, whose concluding remarks: “Your club was at the centre of world leading activities and entrepreneurship. Your members were and continue to be an inspiration” were enthusiastically toast

To those who were there on the night – you demonstrated the true values of the Barwon spirit; pride in your club, support for the sport and commitment to our future.

You’re simply the best!

Go Barwon!
