Temporary Closure

The club is closed until lockdown is lifted.

In line with the Victorian Government's suspension of non-essential activities, which covers gyms and sports, the club is closed and access to facilities is suspended.

The club sees this as the responsible thing to do and encourages members to abide by the government's social distancing procedures, for the safety of all.

We will be in contact in the next 24 hours to set up further mechanisms for virtual communication and online training.

We advise that access to the boat shed has been temporarily suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The executive has made the decision to close the club completely based on the latest government measures announced this morning regarding sporting venues, and with a view that restrictions will only get tighter in the coming days. If you would like to discuss the issue please get in touch with the Captain, Simon Naylor or Secretary, Geoff Boucher.

If you have any concerns or require access (for exceptional circumstances only), please contact Stew Cowey, Nails, Geoff Boucher, Karen O'Connor, Cush or Paul Grisenti.

While the sheds are closed, there may be the option for members to take home an erg to help maintain their training. Numbers are very limited so priority will be given to members who are training towards a valid goal, and who have previously demonstrated a strong commitment to that training. The member will also need to demonstrate the ergo can be stored safely and will guarantee its return in good working order. If you are interested please email captain@barwonrc.asn.au by 8pm today. Ergs will be allocated by tomorrow morning, with pick up by midday tomorrow (by arrangement with a member of the executive).

I’m sure we can all agree that these are very difficult and confusing times. Such measures as are being put in place across the country are unprecedented in Australia so please understand that the Committee has been working within very short time frames to interpret government regulations and come up with solutions that are in the best interests of the club and its members, all whilst managing the changes to their own jobs and families.

Meanwhile please be assured that we are working hard to put alternative ideas in place to help our members keep training, and to stay together as a club. All suggestions and offers of help will be much appreciated!

Thank you for your understanding and stay safe.
